Photographing residential interiors is especially challenging. In many cases the photographer has a limited amount of time on site to get the shots that are needed. Access to the home many be limited to just a few hours and in that time the photographer must find a way light and shoot  6 – 8 separate areas of the home or more.

The other challenge when shooting residential interiors is you frequently find a conflicting mixture of light sources. A kitchen that is strongly light with tungsten light fixtures but also has strong sunlight from one side presents a real challenge.  Because of the difference in the color of the light sources the photographer may have to combine his eye for composition with his Photoshop skills in post production to create the finished image.

Residential interiors can also present space and perspective problems. Room size and decorative items such as mirrors and other reflective materials can severely limit the choices for camera placement. In many cases these shots can only be completed in post production.
